Edwin Clark (Toby) Johnson ws born August 4, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas. He is a former Catholic monk and comparative religions scholar turned psychotherapist, activist, community organizer, and gay entrepreneur. While living in Austin, Texas in the 80s and 90s, he ran Liberty Books, a gay/lesbian bookstore in Austin with partner Kip Dollar. Later he worked with Lethe Press in Maple Shade, New Jersey.
