Dave Waples, Assistant Coach Dave Waples returns to the VSC baseball program on a fulltime basis following a two-year absence that was spent developing a nationally-ranked cross country team at the college. His 1978 runners finished third in the hCAA Division II national championships. The sport has been discontinued, giving the personable Ohio native time to reassume his baseball duties. Before coming South, Waples led his West Liberty State (W. Va.) team to a two-year 43-13 mark, including West Virginia Conference and hAIA district championships. He spent two years at the University of hew Mexico as an assistant football coach and a year at West Virginia University as assistant baseball coach. He earned the BA degree from West Liberty State in 1963, an MEd from Temple University in 1964 and the EdD from West Virginia in 1972.
