Scope and Contents
Description: Double-headed hippopotamus. Media: Carved wood, cowry shells, fiber. Size: 21" x 5" x 5 1/2". Surface: Significant wear throughout, old damage to cowry side of face. Stability: Left leg detached on cowrie side, fiber brittle, shell missing from spiral side, near shoulder, leg, old damage to snout on cowry side, one and three quarters inch crack on bottom, chipping to leg on lower part of cowry side, off-kilter, may be missing other pieces, significant chips on faces. Infestation: Cobwebs around center hole. Note: Detached foot was re-glued by Valdosta State University Archives and Special Collections.
