Scope and Contents

Description: Wood mask. Media: Carved wood, pigment, and hair. Size: 20 1/2" x 9" x 10 1/4". Surface:Loss of hair from left nostril, chip one and a half by two and five eighths inches in size on front neck area, wear in neck area, wear and loss from mouth, nose, and crest, soiled surface, wear throughout, finish dull, and several old gouges on right side of head crest one and five sixteenths, two and three sixteenths, and fifteen sixteenths in size. Stability: Chipping on right side of neck, lower nose, right eye area, left eye area, top edge of right side of crest, and top rear black rectangle on the right side of head, numerous cracks, one in particular on top that splits the wood front to back, large loss on chin. Infestation: Some cobwebs/debris in eye area and above mouth, evidence of burrowing on left eye and bottom of mouth, accumulation of dust in crevices, evidence of water damage on back.
