MS-115-024: Carved Wood Mask
Scope and Contents
Description: Carved mask. Media: Carved wood, pigment, metal, fur. Size: 13 3/4" x 11 3/8" x 16". Surface: Small pinholes throughout, some penetrating from front to back, surface irregular from soil accretion and wear, heavy scratching on forehead, right ear, cheek, base edges, right ear missing, left cheek missing carved area, scratches to nose, losses and scratches to left ear, scrapes throughout. Stability: Very brittle wood, cracking; numerous radial cracks, above left ear to above right ear, etc.; possible loss to right side of base; base irregular. Infestation: Cobwebs and debris inside top of head and crevasses, lost ear appears to display signs of profound infestation; potential growth on base and left side.
