Snake Nation Press (SNP) is a small publishing company based in Valdosta, Georgia. Founded by Roberta George in 1989, SNP has been publishing reviews annually with a short hiatus in 1999. Motivated to be active in the community and increase interest in literature, Snake Nation hosts a writing group on Saturdays where local writers convene to critique their current works. Many of these authors have published their work through Snake Nation Press. This collection contains copies of Snake Nation Review, from 1990-present, copies of the Valdosta Voice magazine dating from July 2000 thru March 2007, over-sized newspaper clippings dating from 1989-1997, copies of the summer 2005 Snake Nation Press Journal. A substantial selection of artwork by Alapaha artist, Marshall Smith (1933-1999) whose artwork has been used SNP publications. This is an open collection ingesting additional correspondence, original artwork, and documents involving the day-to-day functions of the publishing company.
