History

In this historical essay, published in 1863, Reverend Henry Darling argues that the civil war is a war of liberation and explains why slavery is antithetical to Christianity and to the Constitution. Rev. Darling argues that the South is already defeated and makes his case by focusing on the social-economic conditions in the Southern States brought on by slavery, blockades, and the war.
