Description: Notes from Rosa and Will detailing his health problems; note from doctor included; In the first parts, the letter certifies the marriage of Odill and William Roberts Strickland on November 14, 1916 in the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, South Carolina. William was drafted into the military but was honorably discharged due to “Physical Disability”. After some time he rejoined and was stationed with the Puget Sound Iron and Steel Company as a government representative. He was later discharged on January 2, 1918. The writer of this letter (Mrs. Lloyd Eivart) traveled to be with William at the time of his discharge. Both took to the flu but recovered. They were treated by two resident physicians and, after recover, rode the train home after several days spent in the hotel. Later William was stricken with severe head pains. William began fading in health more and more every day. In the second parts, contain William Strickland’s personal conscription to Captain Reed in regards to his illness and disabilities. This also records the same account left by Mrs. Lloyd Eivart and the flu he took in Washington after his discharge. William goes on to ask about his disability payments and describes his illness and tells that doctors were not sure of what it was. In the third part is a Copy of a true letter. This letter is a personal letter of Dr. J.D Grable of the Lake City, Florida’s Veterans Hospital. In the letter Dr. Grable recalls a history of Mr. Strickland’s Illness. The letter goes on to explain Mr. Strickland’s Illness and his treatments.
