Folder 2: Land Grab
Scope and Contents
Setting: The setting is a fictitious community named Calvin in rural South East Georgia. The land is owned by old white families with the exception of one black man whose land was bequeathed him following the abolition of slavery.
Additional information: First of two typed copies of the story, synopsis, and note written 1984 or 1985.
Brief Review: The central theme is the quest for possession of the land which can belong to no one. Man's arrogant... claim to land ownership in an absurdity in view of his proclivity for human error and fragility. "We are all squatters, regardless of the deeds we hold.
