Box 12: Miscellaneous Correspondence, 1954- 1962
Scope and Contents
The papers consist of a wide range of information ranging from his candidacy for Governor to his platform and speeches. There is mostly information on his campaign, and his community service works. Included are original letters, photos, telegrams, newspaper articles, cards, speeches, and itineraries. The major correspondents are Richard B. Russell, Ivan Allen Jr., and Dr. McCormack. The organizations included are the Albany lions club, Southern Life Insurance, the Credit Bureau, several Boards Of Education, along with a couple of churches in which he teaches Bible study classes. The papers are arranged in four groups; political file, platforms, Albany Lions Club, and miscellaneous. The papers contain more that one copy of some items. Within each group items are arranged chronologically by date and numbered consecutively.
