This box, 5, mostly consists of correspondence relating to J. Ralph Thaxton’s work as President of Valdosta State College. The materials document VSC’s minutes from meetings dating between 1954 and 1962. Enclosed is a newspaper clipping from Valdosta Daily Times (1961) of VSC’s ten new faculty members added to staff. Also included is VSC’s 1955-57 faculty directories. A handbook is enclosed in the folder titled “The College, The University, and the Foreign Student.” A letter from The Georgia Commission on Education recommending that the people vote for the School Segregation Amendment in the General Election on Nov. 2^nd along with a statement of Georgia Leaders on the school Segregation Amendment compiled by the General Council and Executive Secretary of the Commission.
