This folder holds letters from 1963-1965 concerning the 50th anniversary of the College. These letters include one to incoming students that quotes a speech by RH Powell (the first president). Thaxton has copies of his letters of thanks for several reasons: thanking the Valdosta Daily Times for excellent coverage of the 50th anniversary; thanks for coming to the convocation as well as thanks to those who spoke at the gathering. Letters to Thaxton include letters of thanks to Thaxton for the invitation to the 50th anniversary, and acceptance letters. Other items in the folder include memos revolving around the college and the festivities are also included, such as a paper that was delivered called "Facing Up To Our Regional Educational Handicaps;" and a poem called "I Ain't Dead Yet"
