Scope and Contents
A photocopy of April 27, 1958 edition of the Telegram (Newark, NJ). It consists of the front/back cover with pages 1/2 and 7/8. The original, stored with the others at the bottom, is torn completely in half width wise (the bottom pages are still connected, but the top pages are not). The headlines read "Ex-Number Man Dead," "Georgia Elks Opens Convention," and "Police Cheif Denies Man Beaten." Pictures of people from around the southeast cover the rest of the front page. Page two has several short editorials concerning African American around the US, and in London. Stories cover such subjects from arrests and paroles to Negro immigration (London) and politics.
