Prince Roger Nelson (June 7, 1958 - April 21, 2016), was an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, actor, and director. He was known for his flamboyant and androgynous persona, eclectic work, and wide vocal range, which included a far-reaching falsetto and high-pitched screams. He often played most or all instruments on his recordings. His innovative music integrated a wide variety of styles, including funk, rock, R and B, new wave, soul, psychedelia, and pop. He sold 150 million records worldwide.
