Biographical / Historical

Kate Fort Codington was a gracious lady of old-line Atlanta society whose roots were deeply embedded in the Victorian concept of dignity and decorum that characterized the aristocratic "Old South." She was a graduate of Peidmont College in 1921.Although Kate Codington's first published poem appeared in her local newspaper when she was seven, the first ones ran in a column in The Macon Daily Telegraph in 1915 and 1916. She wrote short stories in the 1920s and 1930s, and although she wrote poems throughout her life, she collected and published her poems later in 1966 and in 1975, just months before her death.
