The Castle Rising Newsletter began shortly after Jo and James Dixon moved from Dallas, Texas to Aurora, Colorado. It began as a irregular publication associated with the Castle Rising metaphysical store. The store would move to the neighboring Dallas, Texas locating in the downtown area around September 24, 1978. NAMOSRL does not have the first issue, but the publication is believed to being with an October 1977 issue. Some issues lack dates and have been calculated based on content. Beginning with the February 1978 issue, it became a monthy. The last known issue was combined as the June/July, 1979 issue and was also the first issue to have a volume and issue number.
