The baby learned to walk in 1982. It fell down a lot and picked up a lot of bruises along the way, but before the year was over the baby didn’t need any help. Now it must learn to run. The baby is the still new Valdosta State College football program which premiered very successfully in the fall of 1982, finishing 5-5-1 while playing in the toughest Division II conference in America.
