The 1979-1980 VSC Lady Blazers, 1980
Scope and Contents
The Lady Blazers Basketball Team was formed in 1974 (according to program information) , although intramural women’s basketball has been strong at VSC back to the 30’s during its days as GSWC. The first coach was Lyndal Worth. Charles Cooper, Jane Williamson, Yevette Sparks followed. The 1983-1984 team under Cooper won the Gulf South Conference, and reached the NCAA Division II Final Four. The Women’s Basketball Collection contains scattered programs, annual guides entitled “Meet the Lady Blazers,” schedules, some correspondence from Tommy Thomas and Herb Reinhardt, and information on the Basketball Camp for Girls held at VSU.

Overview
One of the greatest assets of Valdosta State college is the Lady Blazer basketball team. This group of splendid young ladies and their outstanding coaching staff provide the finest of spectator sports for the entire region* and have brought national recognition to our college in recent years. They are as dedicated to ex- cellence in their area as any other segment of the campus in its particular field. Their suc- cess shows that dedication and effort pay handsome dividends.
