Excerpt: VSC 29 JACKSONVILLE STATE 25.Playing their first home game, the Blazers jumped to a 29-10 lead after three quarters then held off a furious Jacksonville State rally to win 29-25 before a crowd of 5500 at Cleveland Field. VSC answered an early Gamecock TD with three scores in a nine-minute span to lead 19-10 at halftime. The Blazers dominated the third quarter, scoring 10 points, before surviving the JSU come-back effort. Fullback Max Vickers scored two touchdowns on short runs, and Mark Dace threw for two more. Keith Moore added his second field goal of the year to complete the VSC scoring. The win marked Valdosta State’s first over Jacksonville State in five meetings.
