Phi Lamba Archery Competition, Play Day, 1938. "Play Day, A new movement in the field of Physical Education was instigated at G.S.W.C. in 1931. It proved so successful that it has become a full-fledged annual "activity," anticipated alike by students and guests. The aim of Play Day is to help the work being done all over the country to spread the knowledge and use of new and interesting games to other schools, and to encourage friendship between high schools and the colleges. Six high school seniors and two faculty members from all accredited high schools within motoring distances are invited to be the guests of the College for this day. There is no school rivalry, no playing merely to win, no individual honor to be gained, but a day spent in learning new games, playing old ones, and enjoying comradeship of play." (The Pincecone, 1934)
