Scope and Contents The VSC/VSU Football program began in 1982, and its first coach was Jim Goodman.  Other coaches include Mike Cavan, Hal Mumme, and  Mike Kelly.  The first athlete from the VSC football team to play professional football was Jesse Tuggle.  The team is division two of the Gulf South Conference.  President Hugh Bailey brought Football to VSC early in his tenure, and has been very active in supporting it.
