Before Ray City School had a lunchroom, children would eat outisde. Allegedly, this lead to the campus being visited by livestock in search of a snack. The school put up a cattle guard and a fence to keep the animals out.
In their continued service at home, veterans returning from WWII built a new lunchroom for the Ray City School. Notable participants in the dedication ceremony include A.M. "Hambone" Larsen Jr., who was stationed at Pearl Harbor durring the time of the attacks.
