Joan Bailey Papers

Joan Seever Bailey was the wife of Valdosta State's sixth president Hugh Bailey. She was an extremely active participant in Valdosta State Affairs and her collection reflects that. Most of the items involve Campus Events that were organized or attended by Mrs. Bailey. Also included are college memorabilia, news articles and clippings, and photographs.

John Adam Treutlen

Land grant to John Adam Treutlen for 400 acres near Savannah from King George III. Includes direction of what the Governor was supposed to do to the land and what rights he and his heirs have to the land. Information on back of the deed dates it at June 1767.

John Belcher Papers

Scope and Contents Dr. John Belcher was an associate professor of sociology at the University of Georgia.  Dr. Belcher contributed most of his time to gather information regarding the living conditions of various populations ranging from small villages in Puerto Rico to rural Georgia in the nineteenth century.  He served his field well in collecting required demographic information to further his study as well as to promote beneficial programs to aid society. John C. Huxford Papers

Scope and Contents

John C. Huxford (1931-2008) was a professor with the College of Fine Arts at Valdosta State University. He donated vintage sheet music booklets dating from 1882-1964. Also inculded are numerous discographies, his thesis and research, and correspondence. He was also a c omposer and we have numerous compositions, which are at present unprocessed.  Other of his compositions appear in the collection Campus Memorebelia in Archon.

John Dunn Papers

Scope and Contents

Dr. John Dunn is currently a professor of History at Valdosta State University. This collection includes his publications, professional correspondence, outstanding student papers, journals from interns, and travel journals from Egypt, Uzbekastan, and Japan. Dr. Dunn also donated several vintage copies of French publications dating from the late 19th early 20th century, most notably L'Illustration. Several boxes of L'Illustration have been digitized and can be found on Vtext.

Scope and Contents The Joyce Papers consist mainly of correspondence with colleagues and students.  It also includes  a few photographs, articles and copies of all of her books. Although some items date to Joyce's childhood in Valdosta, the bulk of the papers are from the early 1980's to 2001. Lamar Dodd Collection

Scope and Contents Harley Langdale(1914-2013) graduated from Valdosta High School.He then attended the Citadel before transferring to the University of Georgia to study Forestry. He was the first person from Lowndes County to receive a BSF Degree in Forestry from UGA. Mr. Langdale became the third Registered Forester in the state of Georgia.
