Joseph Tomberlin was head of the history department at Valdosta State University. His papers are from the late 1990s to the early 2000s and deal with SACS accreditation and the implementation of CORE Curriculum.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools mission is the improvement of education in the South through accreditation. This collection contains accreditation materials from the 1970s to the present day. These include everything from general S.A.C.S. reports to in-depth examinations of Valdosta's individual departments. Statistics as well as self-examination and faculty surveys make up a large part of the collection.
