First published in 1886 as La psychologie du raisonnement, Binet's book explored perception and reasoning through hypnosis. Working at Salpêtrière, Paris with Charles Féré and Jean-Martin Charcot, the director of a clinic,the psychologist believed that people with weakened, unstable nervous systems were susceptible to hypnosis.
