Scope and Contents

This is a photocopy of the May 3, 1958 Pittsburg Courier. The origninal is stored at the bottom with the others. This is one of the most complete copies of the paper in this collection. The types of stories range from political to local to religious, however every story has a racial/African American bent to it. There are also some full-page ads in the magazine. The front page is taken up with two headlines: "He Visited Frankie...Alone! Sammy Almost Lost His Bride." and "ORDER TV BAN ON ROBESON!!" Some of the other stories are "Catholic Church boasts 23 Living Negro Bishops," "Councile elects borders," Prod teachers on integration." "Bennett Budget is up $51,00" and "Liberal Educator is Reinstated."
