Map of the Duchy of Auschwitz and Zator.  Copperplate engraving, non-contemporary hand colored. 8 3/4" x 9 5/8". Cartographer: Abraham Ortelius Ortelius is credited with the creation of the first modern atlas, the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (the Theatre of the World) first published in 1570. This map appeared in several different editions of the atlas.
