Evelyn, I grew up in the old church - it was right out to my left and faced the dirt road to the right. We had Sunday School every Sunday. As Children we got a 3 1/2 x 4" card with the picture of Jesus on the on the front and a bible verse and a story on the backs. We had preaching every 1st Sunday Morning and night. The preacher came from Tignall to preach and stayed all day. His family came with him. He went to different people's homes to eat dinner, and stayed all afternoon, ate supper, then went back to Church for the night service. We had "Children's Day" on the 1st Sunday in May. All the Children would get off the school buss on the day of practice. Some of the church ladies would be there with a freezer of ice cream and T cakes for us. We always got new shoes and a a new dress for "The Big Day"The 1st week of August was "Protracted Meeting"Now it's called Revival. We had service at 11:00 AM and again at 7:00 PM

We young people would walk to church in the morning - everyone living below us came walking to church we joined them, as we go nearer the next house they joined in. We always had a big group of young people by the time we got to the Church. Then in 1956 the old building had wind damage. So the people decided to build a new building using as much of the old building as possible. This was accomplished at a cost of $4000.00 cash and free labor from members and friends. The windows up front were in the pulpit area of the old building and the pews are from the old building. Dedication Service was May 7, 1961. Rev. Archie Hayes was Pastor. Homecoming service was started. June 12, 1989, 140 people gathered for a final service after serving 2 hundred 3 years. Its so good we can still have Homecoming and enjoy good old times and see good friends. Hope you enjoy your day. Thankyou
