Physical Description Note

Incunabulum (in the baby's cradle). Leaf out of Bibliosacra- Latin Vulgate Bible. With rubrication (Red letters). Printed Movable type. 11 1/4" x 8" Incunabulum, used in reference to text, is generally anything printed (not handwritten) before 1501 in Europe. The Vulgate was a revision of the Bible by Saint Jerome. Pope Damasus I commissioned the work in 382. Jerome used existing Latin text along with added Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew transcripts. The Vulgate became the official Bible of the Roman Catholic Church.
