Two leaves of Bible Verses with wood cut illustrations: 1. Luke 2: Presentation of Jesus in the temple. 2. Matthew 1: Escape to Egypt. Woodcuts: Bernard Salomon. Printer: Jean de Tournes of Lyon. Bernard Salomon was known for his elegant style in woodcut illustartions and became very influential to French engravers of the period. He started working with Jean de Tournes in 1547. Jean de Tournes was Imprimeur du Roi, printer to the French King and founded a long-lasting family printing, publishing, and bookselling firm that established Lyon as a center of French printing, second only to Paris.
