Public Relations (Old University Relations)
Scope and Contents
Before University Relations existed, Valdosta State College had the Public Relations Department. Most of the collection contains general correspondence from 1954-1990 though there are some papers on eclectic subjects such as Planetarium Programs (1988-1993), Press Releases (1964-1989), and Commencement (1961-1990). There are also personnel files on employees hired from the late 60s to the 80s. These files typically contain a brief biographical sketch listing general information about an employee. Public Relations would have used these biographical sketches when they were writing news releases. A biographical sketch contains information such as educational background, work experience, publication history, family members names, hobbies etc. These personnel files might also contains VSC issued news releases, C.V.s, photographs, and newspaper articles.
