5/20- Former governor’s racial attitude being debated- Associated Press; A lawsuit before the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals claimed legislators tried to keep black people out of office by requiring candidates to win elections with more than 50 percent of the vote. The election law was passed in 1964 by former GA Governor Carl Sanders who was identified as a racial moderate.

The school shooting in reference is likely the 1998 Thurston High School shooting in Springfield, Oregon.
