Lamar Dodd Collection

Scope and Contents The Lamar Dodd Collection includes 21 pieces on display on the first floor North lobby of the Odum Library.  This collection was given to Valdosta State College after negotiations that started in 1974.  They were first displayed in the college library in @1978.  A book detailing the works was created in that first display.  In 2010-11, after complete rennovation of the North side of Odum Library the pieces were re-displayed in what as known as the Lamar Dodd Gallery.  Each piece is...

Scope and Contents Harley Langdale(1914-2013) graduated from Valdosta High School.He then attended the Citadel before transferring to the University of Georgia to study Forestry. He was the first person from Lowndes County to receive a BSF Degree in Forestry from UGA. Mr. Langdale became the third Registered Forester in the state of Georgia. Contains the history of Valdosta State's Library including pictures and papers about Powell Hall which served as library for the school until Odum Library was built. It contains papers from the library built in the 70's including floor plans and correspondence concerning the interior alterations and problems. Project manuals, correspondence and plans for the Odum Library Addition are also included as well.

Library Dedications

Contains Dedication pamphlets from the Libraries of Valdosta State. In 1941 Powell Library was dedicated. Powell was in use until 1972 when a new library was completed that would eventually be named Odum Library. In 2004 Odum dedicated a new addition that doubled the size of the library.
