Young Women's Christian Association

Scope and Contents This collection represents the start of the Young Women's Christian Association at South Georgia State Normal College. It includes the Charter dated 1914, a Bible presented in the dedication of the Chapel, and a framed certificate acknowledging VSU met membership requirements.

Yvonne Slate- George Washington Woolwork

Scope and Contents A damaged large framed Woolwork of the Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington was gifted to Valdosta State University and Special Collections.  After several years, chemisty student Ann K Williams and Deborah Davis did conservation work on the Woolwork.  The mold stains were removed and the portrait reframed.  It is now hanging in the stairwell of Ashley Hall.
