The VSC/VSU Foundation was founded in 1963. The mission of the Valdosta State University Foundation, Inc. is to support the development of educational excellence at Valdosta State University.  This collection contains pamphlets, memos, publications, and financial reports dating from the beginning of the Foundation until the 90s.

VSU Ambassadors

The VSU Ambassadors was a student group founded by President and Mrs. Bailey to assist with Alumni and other events.This collection contains many artifacts from the VSU  Ambassadors including, but not limited to, slides, photographs, t-shirts, banners, and an assortment of files. Though there are a few earlier items, most of the dates are from the 1980s & 1990s.

Whitehead Camellia Trail

Scope and Contents The Whitehead Camellia Trail was donated as a Christmas gift in 1944 to Georgia State Womans College. Mrs. Jewel Whitehead donated 150 camellia plants to the college, and took the time and effort to plant them on the north end of the main campus amongst some pine trees. She continuously worked on the trail throughout the rest of her life, adding new flowers and keeping up the old ones. William Dean Mathes Scrapbook,

Scope and Contents William Dean Mathes [1909-1969], of Morristown, Tennessee, served in World War II, in both the German and Pacific theaters. He served from 1944-1946, first in Germany and later in the Philippines after the German Surrender.  He was a military policeman and a member of the Regimental Band.  Before and after the worked as a book keeper and served at various times as a band director and choir director.  He died in Nashville, Tennessee, where he had moved two years before, in 1969.  His wife was...

William Knight Civil War Letters, 1861-1863

Abstract

The William W. Knight Civil War Letters Collection consists of correspondence authored by William Washington Knight during his service in the Civil War. The letters are addressed to his wife and father, and provide personal insights into his experiences on the battlefield. The collection includes copies of the original letters, dating from 1861 to 1863, and contains 36 handwritten letters.
