Audio and Video Migration Collection

Baseball

Scope and Contents The VSC Baseball Team was formed in 1954 and had its first official baseball season of intercollegiate competition in 1955.  The first coach was Walter Cottingham.  The college was first a member of the Georgia Conference.  In 1959, Gary Colson, later a VSC basketball coach, became baseball coach.  Bill (Billy) Grant became coach in 1960, and Tommy Thomas, the current baseball coach, became coach in 1968.  In 1974, VSC joined the South Atlantic Conference.  The team has won numerous conference...

Basketball

Scope and Contents The men’s Basketball Team, first the Rebels and then the Blazers after 1972, was formed and played its first season in 1959 with coach Gary Colson (see Baseball 16/2/2).  In 1968, coach Jimmy Melvin took over and in 1971 James Dominey, current Blazer’s coach, got the job. The Men’s Basketball Collection contains, schedules, promotional materials, annual programs, clippings and correspondence.  The summer basketball camp is also documented.

Beatrice Maud Hill Collection

Scope and Contents The collection contains nine journals, eight of which was used by Beatrice to record psychic impressions. In particular, readings regarding her son serving in World War II. Two separate items from British lecturer and psychic Horace F. Leaf (1885-1971) are include with Leaf encouraging Beatrice to develop her psychic abilities.

The first in Baker County for the price of $1,920: one woman, Lucy, about 20 years old and a boy, John, about 6 years of age, signed Lucinda Ferguson and Isaac Gillian on January 3, 1837. The second received by Randal McDonald, Adm. in Pulaski County on January 2, 1839 by Green G. Ford of Lee County for the cost of $1,276.00: one woman named Zelpha about 30 years...
