Costello/Whitten Collection

Donated by Danielle Costello and Jessie Whitten. Folder contains a copy of their marriage license, the first issued to a same sex couple in Lowndes County after the Supreme Court ruling on June 26, 2015. Both are Valdosta State University Alumni and were employees of the university when the marriage took place. The marriage officiant was Dr. Fred Downing, the Department Head for Philosophy and Religious Studies. Also included is a newspaper article about their marriage.

Lieutenant Colonel Felton Davis was a well known Valdosta architect and engineer who was appointed Director of the Repairs and Utilities Branch in the Northwest District of the US Army's Sixth Service Command 1945. This collection contains a Report proposed by Davis: Proposal of Movable Excesses in Northwest District (1945). Also it contains: The Canol Project, a historical account of the American defense projects in Northwest Canada and part of Alaska dated 1943.

Frances Hurn Harper Collection
